Quick controls
You can change which categories of cookies we use at any time. Your choice is saved locally on this device.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device to remember information about your visit. They can be set by the site you're visiting (first-party) or by other services the site uses (third-party). Some cookies are essential for the site to work; others help us understand how visitors use it. This policy also covers similar technologies such as localStorage that we use for equivalent purposes.
2. Categories we use
We group cookies into three categories. You can accept or reject each category independently from the .
2.1 Strictly necessary
Required for the site to function. These are set whenever you visit and cannot be turned off — without them, features like login or saving your consent choice would not work. We rely on the EU/UK PECR exception for "strictly necessary" cookies and do not request consent for these.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| superuser-token | Softontrent (first-party) | Authenticated session for the admin dashboard. Signed JWT bound to a server-side session record. | 7 days |
| sft-cookie-consent | Softontrent (first-party, localStorage) | Stores your cookie preferences so we do not have to ask again on every visit. | Until cleared |
2.2 Analytics
Help us understand how visitors find and use the site so we can improve it. We only load these after you grant consent. We use Google Analytics with IP anonymisation and Consent Mode v2, which means no analytics cookies are written if you decline.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes unique users. Set only after you accept analytics cookies. | 2 years |
| _ga_<container-id> | Google Analytics | Used to persist session state for Google Analytics 4. Set only after you accept analytics cookies. | 2 years |
2.3 Marketing
Used to measure ad effectiveness and personalise content. Softontrent does not currently run advertising, so no marketing cookies are set today. The toggle is provided for transparency and will control related Google signals if we ever do.
We do not currently set any cookies in this category.
3. How we use Google Consent Mode
When you reject analytics or marketing cookies, we instruct Google to operate in consent denied mode. In this mode no identifying cookies are written and no personal data is sent; Google may still receive anonymous, aggregated pings used to model traffic levels. If you accept, the relevant cookies are set and we receive standard analytics data.
4. Changing your mind
You can update your cookie choices any time from this page, the footer of any page, or directly:
You can also clear cookies and site data from your browser settings. Note that this will remove your saved preference, and we'll ask again on your next visit.
5. Changes to this policy
If we add new cookies or change how we use existing ones, we'll update this page and may ask you to make a fresh choice. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change.
